Dear parents,
I’m so excited to invite your child to join us for the 8th Grade Cotillion Club! Cotillion Club is an opportunity for students to practice and perfect their learning from the 7th-grade program while learning new age-relevant social skills and manners.
As you read the details below, you will see that the 8th Grade Cotillion Club has a different structure than the 7th-grade program, but our mission is the same! We are here to help you raise confident, kind, and considerate young adults who are prepared for future success- in the classroom, their relationships, and the workplace.
Each class includes an icebreaker activity, manners learning with hands-on practice, and a little dancing. We meet once a month on three Sunday afternoons. Our festive Dinner Party & Social is on a Friday evening in January. We wrap up our time together in February with a Leaders Serve Volunteer Project.
Cotillion Club builds on the 7th grade Junior Cotillion experience; however, participation last year is not required. Alumni will be given precedence in the registration process.
Good manners, consideration for others, and social confidence are life skills to be learned and practiced as young people continue to grow and mature. Cotillion Club is the perfect opportunity for your 8th grader to do so in a fun and welcoming setting.
All the details and the registration form are below. I hope to see you and your 8th grader at Cotillion Club!

A few important details
Dance instruction: Our goal is to teach students that dancing is a fun way to socialize, and you don’t have to be a perfect dancer to enjoy the dance floor. At Cotillion Club, we review the waltz from the 7th-grade program, and students learn party/line dances. Dance partners are paired at random and alternate throughout each lesson. No one is left out or ever “asks” another student to dance.
Dress Code: Attire is to be conservative and modest at all events. Each Sunday has a theme to guide your student’s attire. If your child does not wish to dress in the theme, he/she may dress in “smart casual” attire. You will receive photo examples and more dress code information before each class. Please don’t feel you must buy anything or stress over our dress code and themes. Keep it simple.
8th Grade Cotillion Club schedule
Sunday classes (socials) meet at the Granfalloon event space in the Southside from 3:00 – 5:00.
October 30th- Tailgate Social
We’ll be mixing, mingling, and polishing our conversation skills. Netiquette, social media essentials, and screen manners will also be taught. Students should wear their favorite team jerseys or colors and be ready for a little friendly competition! We will review the waltz and learn a new party dance.
November 13th- Blast from the Past Social
Choose one of these decades and dress accordingly: the Fab 50s, Groovy 60s, Disco 70s, or Awesome 80s. We will learn buffet manners while enjoying sweet treats at our dessert buffet. First dance essentials (corsages/boutonnieres, pictures, dance floor manners, making reservations) will also be taught. And of course, we will have some fun while dancing through the decades!
December 4th- Holiday Hoedown Social
Wear your favorite flannel, jeans, and boots. We’ll do some country western dancing and learn about handling sticky social situations with grace and confidence, plus the keys to healthy friendships and relationships. We will also review the Traits of a Lady and Gentleman.
January 13th- Dinner Party & Social (Friday evening)
This festive evening allows the students to practice all their Cotillion Club learning and celebrate their new friendships. The event includes organized social time, a delicious Southern-style seated dinner, and a little dancing. During dinner, we’ll review dining etiquette. The attire is semi-formal (more details to come). This event is held at the Church on the Main venue in the Southside.
February- Leaders Serve Group Volunteer Outing (Date & Time TBA)
We’ll volunteer together in the community on a Saturday in February. Students will learn about the importance of volunteering and teamwork. This is an optional event and will require your RSVP.
The refund policy is detailed here. Please check your calendar carefully before committing.
The Cotillion Club experience includes confidence-building manners and dance instruction on three Sunday afternoons, a keepsake favor, the Dinner Party & Social, the Leaders Serve Outing, plus fun memories that will last a lifetime!
Tuition is $275
