It has happened to me and I bet it has happened to you too…drawing a blank on someone’s name. You’ve forgotten the other person’s name and that person is right there in front of you.
What should you do?
Don’t run to hide in the bathroom 😉
Don’t guess at the name.
Don’t stammer and stutter.
Simply smile ? and say, “Please remind me your name.”
No need to make a big fuss over it. No need to go on and on with apologies. It’s truly okay to admit that you’ve forgotten.
After all, it’s happened to all of us at some point.
Another strategy is to be proactive by saying something like, “We haven’t seen each other in a while. I’m Dawn Jumper.” Hopefully, the other person will say their name back to you. Most likely the other person has forgotten your name as well, so you’re showing them some grace!
